Pound’s & Pound’s in Thailand

by - 10:12 PM

Let me tell you a little story. Back in February, mom and dad Pound (Dave & Sher Pound) flew with us to Chiang Mai to see where we’d be working and living. We landed together at the Chiang Mai airport and were picked up by Faithful Heart’s Dave & Shirley Callahan.

On the ride home from the airport Dave C. was riding with Matt and asked what Matt’s parents were up to. Matt told him that his dad had just retired from 40 years of ministry, 35 of those years planting and pastoring at one church! Dave C. quietly sat back with a smile on his face, and said, “I’ll have talk to him about that, our church here has been searching for a pastor…”

The next morning at that very same church, we all sat together and Dave P. leaned over to Matt and said, “now this is the kind of church I could see myself pastoring at.”

Little did we know, just a few months later, the Pound’s would be BACK in Chiang Mai, interviewing with this church and becoming a candidate for the pastoral position!

And here we are, 6 months after moving to Chiang Mai, eagerly waiting for the arrival of Pastor Dave and Sher (aka, mom and dad) as they accepted the position at this church and are moving to Chiang Mai in September! How exciting is this!? Can I get an amen! :)

“I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.” Ephesians 3 (MSG)
